Psychiatric treatment to patients in ME, MA, VT, and NH

We serve patients from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont using a fully virtual telepsychiatry platform. Our focus is on delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and easily accessible psychiatric treatment. At the heart of the practice is a goal to establish meaningful and longitudinal therapeutic relationships with patients seeking to explore their problems in living. To achieve that aim, we take an integrative approach that focuses on the biological, psychological, and social contributors to illness, and utilize treatment strategies steeped in a psychodynamic tradition.

the approach

Psychiatry in Maine

My approach to treatment is relational and holistic. Growth often occurs through insight and this orientation serves as the foundation for the way that I work. My psychodynamic perspective helps patients clarify and contextualize current problems in living, discover the contributory antecedent events and developmental experiences, and work through unconscious conflicts that defend against growth and re-enact dynamics from earlier developmental stages.

My clinical experience has demonstrated how remarkable improvements and symptomatic relief are possible with psychotropic medications but my experiences have also made clear the limitations and risks associated with their use. My approach to medication is influenced in such a way as to focus on meaning making, in regards to both symptomatology and psychopharmacology.

While there are many benefits to telepsychiatry, federal regulations preclude the prescribing of controlled medications, such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines, and sedative hypnotics. Therefore, I cannot prescribe any controlled medications.

Service Types

Most patients elect for integrated psychiatric treatment including both individual psychotherapy and psychotropic medication supervision. For those who already have an established therapist but require on-going psychopharmacology support, we are able to provide shorter appointments specifically focused on medication management only. Our pricing is simple and transparent.

Insurance

Providing comprehensive psychiatric treatment requires a highly individualized approach. As such, we do not follow the one-size-fits-all treatment guidelines often dictated by commercial insurance carriers as they may compromise the customized treatment plans that patients deserve. Given state and federal rules, we are not able to offer our model of care to those with Medicare or Medicaid.

While we do not contract with any insurance carriers, we strive to have upfront and transparent pricing for our services. Additionally, we provide detailed invoices if you wish to submit your own claim to insurance.

Prescriptions

All prescriptions are transmitted directly to the pharmacy of your choice.  Due to the virtual nature of treatment, federal regulations preclude the prescribing of controlled medications, such as opioids (e.g. Suboxone, Subutex), stimulants (e.g., Adderall Ritalin, Vyvanse, Concerta), hallucinogens (e.g. Spravato), and benzodiazepines (e.g., Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax) and other sedative hypnotics (e.g., Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata). As such, I do not prescribe any controlled medications.

Location

All treatment is conducted via a HIPAA-compliant video platform. This allows patients to engage treatment in the most convenient and accessible way possible. However, due to medical licensure requirements, we can only serve patients who are physically located in the New England states of Maine (ME), Massachusetts (MA), New Hampshire (NH), and Vermont (VT).
